ՆԱՏՕ-ն չի ծրագրում իր կազմում ներառել երկրների Ասիայից կամ Աֆրիկայից: Ինչպես փոխանցում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այս մասին իսպանական El Mundo պարբերականին տված հարցազրույցում հայտարարել է Հյուսիսատլանտյան դաշինքի գլխավոր քարտուղար Յենս Ստոլտենբերգը:

Ստոլտենբերգը նշել է նաև, որ Չինաստանը ՆԱՏՕ-ի կողմից չի դիտարկվում որպես հակառակորդ: «Մենք կարևորում ենք Չինաստանի ներգրավումն այնպիսի հարցերում, ինչպիսիք են սպառազինության և կլիմայական փոփոխությունների վերահսկումն է»,- ասել է նա:

ՆԱՏՕ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղարը, անդրադառնալով Ռուսաստանին, նշել է, որ այդ երկիրը կառույցի հարևանն է, ում հետ պետք է տարբեր հարցեր քննարկել, այդ թվում և սպառազինությունների վերահսկողությունը: «Երկխոսությունը չափազանց կարևոր է, քանի որ մենք ցանկանում ենք կանխել նոր սառը պատերազմը և սպառազինությունների մրցավազքը»,- ասել է նա:
