Գերմանիայի կանցլեր Անգելա Մերկելը պաշտոնաթողությունից հետո մոտ 15 000 եվրոյի ծավալով թոշակ է ստանալու: ՏԱՍՍ գործակալության փոխանցմամբ՝ այս մասին վկայում են Գերմանիայի հարկատուների ֆեդերացիայի հաշվարկները:

Գերատեսչության տվյալներով՝ նման գումար է ձևավորվում, քանի որ Մերկելը երկար տարիներ եղել է Բունդեսթագի անդամ, ինչպես նաև զբաղեցրել է կանցլերի պաշտոնը:

Բունդեսթագի պատգամավոր Մերկելը դարձել է 1989 թվականին՝ առաջին համագերմանական ընտրությունների արդյունքներով: 2000 թվականին դարձել է «Քրիստնեա-դեմոկրատական միություն» կուսակցության առաջին կին նախագահը: 2005 թվականից ընտրվել է Գերմանիայի կանցլեր:

Սեպտեմբերին Գերմանիայում կկայանան խորհրդարանական ընտրություններ, որոնց արդյունքներով կկազմվի նոր կառավարություն: Մերկելն իր թեկնածությունը չի առաջադրել և հայտնել է ընտրություններից հետո քաղաքականությունից հեռանալու մտադրության մասին:
