Սոչիում ընթացող շախմատի Աշխարհի գավաթի խաղարկությունում գրոսմայստեր Շանթ Սարգսյանը հաղթահարեց 1/128 փուլի արգելքը:

2 դասական պարտիայում էլ Շանթը հաղթեց Վենեսուելան ներկայացնող Պեդրո Ռամոն Մարտինես Ռեյեսին։ 1/64 եզրափակչում Սարգսյանի մրցակիցը կլինի ադրբեջանցի Նիջաթ Աբասովը։

Պարտություններ կրեցին Հովհաննես Գաբուզյանն ու Հայկ Մարտիրոսյանը՝ համապատասխանաբար ալժիրցի Բիլել Բելահսենեից ու զամբիացի Չիտումբո Մվալիից: Քանի որ առաջին պարտիայում մեր շախմատիստները հաղթել էին, այսօր 1/64 եզրափակչի ուղեգրերը կվիճարկվի արագ շախմատում:

Հիշեցնենք, որ Լևոն Արոնյանն ու Գաբրիել Սարգսյանը պայքարի մեջ կմտնեն 1/64 եզրափաչից:
