Մինչև 2030 թվականը Եվրոպայում ածխածնի արտանետումները՝ 1990 թվականի համեմատ, 40%-ի փոխարեն պետք է կրճատվեն 55%-ով: Ծրագրերի կտրուկ խստացման մասին պայմանավորվել են ԵՄ պետությունների ղեկավարների գագաթնաժողովի ընթացքում: Այս մասին իր թվիթերյան էջում գրել է Եվրախորհրդի ղեկավար Շարլ Միշելը:

Նա շեշտել է, որ Եվրամիությունը պատրաստվում է առաջատար դառնալ կլիմայի գլոբալ փոփոխության դեմ պայքարում: Մինչև 2050 թվականը, տարածաշրջանում արտանետումների մակարդակը պետք է հասնի զրոյի:

Գործնական առումով սա նշանակում է, որ Եվրոպայի համար հանածո վառելիքի, այդ թվում՝ նավթի և գազի գնումների կրճատումն զգալիորեն կարագանա:
