Հայաստանի ծանրամարտի հավաքականի անդամ, աշխարհի, Եվրոպայի և Օլիմպիական խաղերի չեմպիոն Սիմոն Մարտիրոսյանը հավակնում է «Տարվա ծանրամարտիկ» կոչմանը:

Ծանրամարտի միջազգային ֆեդերացիան իր պաշտոնական կայքէջում անցկացնում է քվեարկություն, որտեղ 5 ծանրորդների շարքում է նաև Սիմոն Մարտիրոսյանը:

2019 թվականին Սիմոն Մարտիրոսյանը դարձավ աշխարհի և Եվրոպայի չեմպիոն: Նախորդ տարվա վերջին հայտնի դարձավ, որ Մարտիրոսյանը կարժանանա Ռիոյի 31-րդ ամառային Օլիմպիական խաղերի ոսկե մեդալին, քանի որ 2016 խաղերի չեմպիոն Ռուսլան Նուրուդինովի` դեռևս 2012 թվականի Լոնդոնի Օլիմպիական խաղերի դոպինգ թեսթերը դրական են եղել:
