Թրամփն Էրդողանին իր ընկերն է անվանել ու հայտարարել, որ ԱՄՆ-ն ու Թուրքիան այժմ մոտ են՝ ինչպես երբևէ

ՄԱԿ-ի Գլխավոր ասամբլեայի 72-րդ նստաշրջանին մասնակցելու նպատակով Նյու Յորքում գտնվող Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանը հանդիպել է ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփի հետ։ Երկու երկրների առաջնորդները 50 րոպե տևած հանդիպման ընթացքում քննարկել են տարածաշրջանային մի շարք խնդիրներ՝ գլխավոր շեշտը դնելով Իրաքյան Քուրդիստանի անկախության վերաբերյալ հանրաքվեի ու Սիրիայում տիրող իրավիճակի վրա, քննարկվել են նաև թուրք-ամերիկյան հարաբերությունները:

Հանդիպումից առաջ լրագրողների հետ զրույցում Թրամփը նշել է, որ Էրդողանը որպես նախագահ գործում է ներկայում աշխարհի ամենաթեժ ու բարդ կետերից մեկը համարվող տարածաշրջանում, և շատ բարձր է գնահատել Թուրքիայի ղեկավարի կատարած քայլերն ու գործունեությունը:
