Սերբիայի նախագահ Ալեքսանդր Վուչիչը հայտնել է, որ հրաժարական կտա սեպտեմբերի վերջին և արտահերթ խորհրդարանական ընտրություններին կնախապատրաստվի շարքային քաղաքացու կարգավիճակում, հայտնում է ՏԱՍՍ-ը։

«Նյու Յորքից վերադառնալուց անմիջապես հետո՝ դա կլինի սեպտեմբերի 25-ին կամ 26-ին, ես հրաժարական կտամ և նախընտրական քարոզարշավը կվարեմ որպես շարքային քաղաքացի։ Օրենքն ինձնից դա չի պահանջում, բայց դա իմ կամքն է։ Նախկինում ոչ մի նախագահ այդպես չի վարվել․ նրանք բոլորը քարոզարշավը վարել են նախագահի կամ վարչապետի պաշտոնը զբաղեցնելով, բայց ես այդպես չեմ անի։ Քարոզարշավի վերջին ամիսը ես կանցկացնեմ շարքային քաղաքացու կարգավիճակում»,- ասել է նա մամուլի ասուլիսի ընթացքում։

Սեպտեմբերի 9-ին Վուչիչը հաստատել է հանրապետության Ժողովրդական միապալատ խորհրդարանը ցրելու և հոկտեմբերի 25-ին արտահերթ ընտրություններ նշանակելու մասին որոշումները։ Ավելի վաղ իշխող Սերբական առաջադիմական կուսակցության նախագահ Միլոշ Վուչևիչը հայտնել էր, որ Վուչիչը կգլխավորի քաղաքական ուժի ցուցակը առաջիկա խորհրդարանական ընտրություններում և կդառնա նրա վարչապետի թեկնածուն։
