Եվրամիության անդամ պետություն դառնալն այլևս Թուրքիայի առաջնահերթություններից չէ։ Այս մասին «Ալ Ջազիրա» հեռուստաալիքին տված հարցազրույցում ասել է Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանը։

«Եվրոպական միությունը, ըստ երևույթին, պատրաստ չէ ընդունել Թուրքիային։ ԵՄ-ին անդամակցությունն այլևս Անկարայի առաջնահերթություններից չէ, դրանից ի վերջո կտուժի հենց Եվրոպան»,- նշել է նա։

 

Թուրքիան 1995 թվականից Եվրամիության անդամության թեկնածուի կարգավիճակ ունի։ Դրանից հետո 2005 թվականին մեկնարկել են ԵՄ-ին Թուրքիայի անդամակցության շուրջ բանակցությունները, որոնք, սակայն, կանգ են առել ու հայտնվել փակուղում։

ԵՄ խորհուրդը 2018 թվականին արձանագրեց, որ Թուրքիայում ժողովրդավարության, հիմնարար իրավունքների և դատական անկախության ոլորտներում շարունակվող հետընթացի պատճառով անդամակցության բանակցությունները փաստացի հայտնվել են փակուղում։
