Գիտնականները 7 հետազոտություն են անցկացրել: Նրանք ուսումնասիրել են այնպիսի նպատակներ, ինչպիսիք են նիհարելը և գումար տնտեսելը:

Պարզվել է, որ դիետա պահող մարդու համար մեծ ձեքբերում է թվում պոնչիկից հրաժարվելը: Սակայն, ուտելով պոնչիկը՝ նա ամենայն հավանականությամբ, դա մեծ հանցանք չի համարի, կամ մարդիկ կարծում են, որ եթե սպորտով են զբաղվում, ուրեմն կարող են ավելի շատ ուտել:
