Սաուդյան Արաբիան երկրորդ տարին անընդմեջ մահապատժի է ենթարկել ռեկորդային թվով մարդկանց: Բրիտանական Reprieve իրավապաշտպան կազմակերպության տվյալներով, որը հետևում է երկրում մահապատիժներին, այս տարի մահապատժի է ենթարկվել առնվազն 347 մարդ՝ 2024 թվականի 345-ի համեմատ: Reprieve-ը այն բնութագրել է որպես «թագավորությունում մոնիթորինգի սկսվելուց ի վեր ամենաարյունալի տարին», գրել է BBC-ն։

Մեծ մասը դատապարտվել է թմրանյութերի հետ կապված հանցագործությունների համար, որոնք մարդկային զոհերի չեն հանգեցրել: Մահապատժի ենթարկվածների կեսից ավելին օտարերկրյա քաղաքացիներ են եղել: Սաուդյան Արաբիայի իշխանությունները պաշտոնապես չեն մեկնաբանել մահապատիժների աճը։
