Էկվադորում սպանվել է «Բարսելոնա դե Գուայակիլ» ֆուտբոլային ակումբի 33-ամյա պաշտպան Մարիո Պինեյդան,  հայտնել է երկրի ոստիկանությունը։

Երկու կասկածյալներ, որոնք մոտոցիկլետներով են եղել, կրակ են բացել մսի խանութում՝ թիրախավորելով տղամարդու և կնոջ։ Անձը հաստատող փաստաթղթերը ստուգելուց և ընտանիքի անդամների հետ կապ հաստատելուց հետո իշխանությունները հայտնել են, որ զոհերը Պինեյդան և նրա կինն են։ Հարձակման ժամանակ վիրավորվել է նաև Պինեյդայի մայրը։ Վերջինս գլխի թեթև, մակերեսային վերք է ստացել, դեպքի վայրում բուժօգնություն է ստացել շտապօգնության աշխատակիցների կողմից։ 

Էկվադորի լրատվամիջոցները հայտնել են, որ միջադեպը տեղի է ունեցել Սամանես շրջանում, որը մայրաքաղաք Կիտոյից 265 կիլոմետր (165 մղոն) հարավ-արևմուտք է։ Սպանության պատվիրատուն հավանաբար տեղի հանցագործ կարտելն է եղել։
