Ընդունված է համարել, որ կարտոֆիլը նպաստում է գիրանալուն: Սակայն, ինչպես պարզել են գիտնականները, կարտոֆիլը կառուցվածքի համար վնասական չէ: Ըստ մասնագետների՝ ճիշտ չափաբաժինների պարագայում այն անգամ կարող է նպաստել նիհարելուն:

Ամերիկյան գիտահետազոտական ինստիտուտը հաստատել է, որ կարտոֆիլում առկա միկրոէլեմենտները, կալորիաների ճիշտ հաշվարկի դեպքում, օգնում են մարդու կառուցվածքը բերել լավ վիճակի: Իսկ դա մասնագետներին հաջողվել է ապացուցել փորձի միջոցով:

Գիտնականներն ավելորդ քաշ ունեցող կամավորներին բաժանել են երեք խմբի: Առաջին երկու խմբի անդմաներին առաջարկվել է սնվել մթերքների որոշակի սահմանափակում ենթադրող դիետաներով: Երրորդ խմբին թույլատրվել է սնվել ինչպես ցանկանում են: Ընդ որում կամավորներին շաբաթական 7 չափաբաժին կարտոֆիլ են տվել: Երեք ամսվա ընթացքում փորձի բոլոր մասնակիցները նիհարել են գրեթե նույն չափով: Փորձը ցույց է տվել, որ կարտոֆիլի ճիշտ չափաբաժնով կիրառելու դեպքում կառուցվածքի համար որևէ վտանգ չկա:
