Իրանի և Ադրբեջանի ներկայացուցիչների համատեղ աշխատանքի արդյունքում համաձայնեցվեց Արաքս գետի հարավային ափով երկաթուղու և մայրուղու երթուղին, ըստ ադրբեջանական լրատվամիջոցների՝ հայտարարել է Ադրբեջանի նախագահ Իլհամ Ալիևը՝ Տաշքենդում Իրանի նախագահ Իբրահիմ Ռայիսիի հետ հանդիպման ժամանակ

Ալիևը վստահություն է հայտնել, որ այս նախագիծը «կարճ ժամանակում կիրականացվի և կդառնա Հյուսիս-Հարավ տրանսպորտային միջանցքի ևս մեկ ուղղություն»։

«Այսինքն՝ արդյունքում կունենանք երկու երթուղի՝ մեկը Աստարայով, մեկը Աղբենդով, և երկու երթուղիներն էլ կծառայեն Իրանի և Ադրբեջանի միջև եղբայրական հարաբերությունների ամրապնդմանը, հասանելի կլինեն նաև այլ երկրների մեր հարևաններին և գործընկերներին», - ասել է Ադրբեջանի նախագահը:
