Իսրայելի վարչապետ Բենիամին Նեթանյահուն հոկտեմբերի 28-ին հայտարարել է պատերազմի երկրորդ փուլի մեկնարկի մասին, որի նպատակն է ոչնչացնել պաղեստինյան ՀԱՄԱՍ շարժումը և ազատել պատանդներին։

«Սա պատերազմի երկրորդ փուլն է։ Մեր կոչերը շատ պարզ են՝ ոչնչացնել ՀԱՄԱՍ-ի ռազմական և կառավարական իշխանությունը և տուժածներին տուն բերել»,- Նեթանյահուի խոսքերն է մեջբերում The Guardian-ը։

Թել Ավիվում կայացած մամուլի ասուլիսի ժամանակ նա հավելել է, որ արևմտյան և արաբական երկրներում դաշնակիցները հասկանում են պաղեստինյան շարժման հետ Իսրայելի պատերազմի նպատակները և հաղթանակ են մաղթում հրեական պետությանը։

Նեթանյահուն նաև հայտարարել է, որ իսրայելցի զինվորականները մտել են Գազայի հատված՝ ոչնչացնելու ՀԱՄԱՍ-ը և ազատելու պատանդներին։
