Գերմանիայի արտաքին գործերի նախարար Աննալենա Բերբոկը բանակցում է Եգիպտոսի և ՄԱԿ-ի հետ՝ Գազայի հատվածում խաղաղ բնակիչների համար ապաստարաններ ապահովելու համար, որոնց Իսրայելի բանակը հորդորել է շարժվել հարավ՝ իր մոտալուտ ցամաքային հարձակման պատճառով:

Իր իսրայելցի գործընկեր Էլի Քոհենի հետ բանակցություններից հետո ելույթ ունենալով Իսրայելի հարավային Նետիվոտ քաղաքում՝ Բերբոկն ասել է, որ «Գազայի հարավում կարողություններն արդեն ծանրաբեռնված են... մենք այս հարցը քննարկում ենք ՄԱԿ-ի, Եգիպտոսի և այլ կողմերի հետ»:

Բերբոկն ասել է, որ եկել է Իսրայել՝ զրուցելու գերմանացի պատանդների ընտանիքի անդամների և ներգրավված մյուս կողմերի հետ՝ ապահովելու նրանց ազատ արձակումը:
