Մեղվի թույնը կարող է փոխարինել հակաբիոտիկներին։ Այս մասին տեղեկանում ենք Scientific Reports-ից, որը հրապարակել է մեղվի թույնի նոր հետազոտությունը։ Ըստ հրապարակման` մեղվի թույնը ունի հակաբակտերիալ և ցիտոտոքսիկ ազդեցություն։ Այդ հակաբիոտիկները գենետիկական փոփոխություններ են առաջացնում բակտերիաների օրգանիզմում, ինչի շնորհիվ` դրանք կայունություն են ձեռք բերում վիրուսների նկատմամբ։ Ըստ հետազոտության` մեղվի թույնը՝ հատկապես այլընտրանք է ոսկեգույն ստաֆիլոկոկի  վարակների դեմ պայքարում։ Ոսկեգույն ստաֆիլոկոկը կարող է առաջացնել մաշկի աբսցեսներ, թոքաբորբ, հոդերի ու արյունատար համակարգի ինֆեկցիաներ։

Հետազոտության մեջ նշվում է, որ մեղվի թույնին ի լրումն` հակաբիոտիկներին այլընտրանք կարող են լինել նաև մի շարք բնական մթերքներ ու եթերայուղեր։
