2023 թ․ պետք է նշվի Էջմիածնի Մայր տաճարի 1720-ամյակը, եթե ամեն ինչ նախատեսվածի պես ընթանա, ապա այդ տարի էլ կվերաբացվի Մայր տաճարը: Այս մասին այսօր՝ սեպտեմբերի 6-ին, լրագրողների հետ զրույցում ասաց Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածնի լուսարարապետ Մուշեղ եպիսկոպոս Բաբայանը:

Սրբազանի խոսքով՝ Մայր տաճարը չի վերաբացվում, քանի որ անընդհատ ի հայտ են գալիս բարդություններ, որոնց պատճառով աշխատանքները երկարաձգվում են։

«Մայր տաճարը հիմնովին վերանորոգման է ենթարկվել՝ հիմքից մինչև գմբեթի խաչը: Թե երբ կբացվի տաճարը, կախված են Մայր տաճարի վրա իրականացվող աշխատանքների ժամանակ ի հայտ եկած աշխատանքներից: Երկարաձգվեց Մայր տաճարի բացման ժամկետը, քանի որ ահռելի աշխատանք է թե՛ կատարվել, թե՛ կատարվում»,- ասաց նա:

Հիշեցնենք, որ Էջմիածնի Մայր տաճարը հիմնանորոգման նպատակով փակվել է 2018 թվականից: Վերջին անգամ այն տաճարը հիմնանորոգվել էր 1954-58 թվականներին։
