Ըստ դատական փաստաթղթերի, որոնք հայտնվել են TMZ-ի տրամադրության տակ, ոմն Ջեֆրի Ֆիլիփսին մեղադրում են փոփի կուռքի բնակարանից անձնական իրեր գողանալու համար։ Հայտնի է, որ տղամարդը նշանադրված է եղել Ջեքսոնի քույրերից մեկի հետ եւ 2009թ․-ի հունիսի 25-ին Մայքլի մահվանից հետո մոտ շաբաթ գտնվել է առանձնատանը։

Մինչ ամբողջ ընտանիքը վշտի մեջ է եղել եւ պատրաստվել է հուղարկավորությանը, Ֆիլիփսն իր ձեռքն է վերցրել հանգուցյալի տարբեր իրեր՝ հեռախոս, տեսախցիկ, համակարգիչ, կոշտ սկավառակ, հաբերի սրվակներ, անձնական նշումներ եւ փաստաթղթեր։ Ֆիլիփսը նույնիսկ գողացել է գիշերազգեստը, որը Մայքլը կրում էր վերջին ժամերին, ինչպես նաեւ Էնդոտրախեալ խողովակը, որի օգնությամբ բժիշկները փորձել են փրկել արտիստի կյանքը։
