Մահացել է ԵՊՀ նախկին ռեկտոր Արամ Սիմոնյանը։ Արամ Սիմոնյանը պատմագետ էր, հրապարակախոս, Հայաստանի Հանրապետության գիտության վաստակավոր գործիչ։ 2015 թվականից եղել է Երևանի պետական համալսարանի ռեկտոր՝ հրաժարական ներկայացրելով 2019 թվականի մայիսի 23-ին։ Եղել է Հայաստանի Հանրապետական կուսակցության անդամ։

Սիմոնյանը հեղինակ է 85 գիտական աշխատանքների, որոնցից 4-ը մենագրություններ են։Մասնակցել է բազմաթիվ միջազգային և հանրապետական գիտաժողովների[4]։ Բազմիցս հրավիրվել է Իտալիայի, Բելգիայի, Մեծ Բրիտանիայի, Գերմանիայի, Իսպանիայի, ԱՄՆ-ի և աշխարհի մի շարք այլ երկրների գիտակրթական կենտրոններ, որտեղ զբաղվել է գիտակրթական գործունեությամբ։

Արամ Սիմոնյանը ամուսնացած էր, ուներ երկու դուստր։
